Boasting the biggest forward pack in the U15 division at the QMC, directed by the no.9 Manuifua Nona, the starting forward pack; George Abednego, Tyler Pickering, Manny Guligo, Justin Dotoi and Tajshon Santo leading the team straight through the middle of the field, with the reserve forwards Jamaine Stanley, Jahvan Oui, Fred Billy and Tyreece Michael keeping the charge going without losing a beat and punishing the defence without reprieve. This allowed the halves Aiden Carson and Elijah (Rodney) Joe to find space up the middle and create attacking opportunities for the likes of Javan Ah Kit, Frank Backo and Brody Ah Kit executing try after try.
When the Possible’s and Probable’s teams were announced it produced an unlikely, but welcomed surprise that included QLD School Boy representative Damon Marshall. Damon was unable to pass a medical clearance for his injury on the day the team flew to Brisbane, it was too late for him to be omitted from the Townsville Black Stars RL squad, therefore he had to remain on the bench for the entire carnival, and because of that, he was still eligible for selection. There were no surprises to see George Abednego, Manny Guligo, Elijah Joe, Frank Backo and Javan Ah Kit included the possible v probable match. Aiden Carson, Justin Dotoi, Jamaine Stanely and Manu Nona were so unlucky not to be also named in either team.
As expected the QRL MURRI TEAM selectors weren’t the only ones watching the U15 Townsville Black Stars games at the QMC, a South Brisbane school offered scholarships to 7 players for their Rugby League Excellence Program.
