Townsville Black Stars Rugby League have announced their Under 15 team that will compete in the Queensland Murri Carnival (QMC) held at the South Pine Sports Complex in Brendale, North Brisbane from Tuesday 1st – Friday 4th October 2019.
Townsville Black Stars 25-man squad has both size and depth without compromising any speed, under the captaincy and leadership of Queensland School-boy representative Damon Marshall, the Townsville Black Stars forward pack will include his North Queensland School boys team mates Tyler Pickering (Townsville) and Jamaine Stanley (Townsville) and they will join forces with North Queensland Marlins Manuel Guligo (Innisfail) and Justin Dotoi (Cape/Torres) who were both selected in the U15 merit team at the North Queensland Championships held in May this year.
Townsville Black Stars massive forward pack will be backed up by the team’s Co-captain and NQ School boys representative Elijah Joe (Townsville) at five-eight and NQ Marlins Aiden Carson (Eacham) playing in the No.7, others to watch out for are Gununa speedster Javan Ah Kit and Abergowrie steam train Fred Billy.

This squad has been preparing for the QMC since end of June, each member will need to undergo a 715 Health Check as part of the “Closing The Gap” initiative, achieve 90% school attendance to promote Education Queensland “Everyday Counts” strategy and participate in The Salvation Army’s Leadership & Resilience Program that connects the players to local youth services and engage with youth activities.
Townsville has achieved some great success at this carnival in the past 5 years, with a 100% strike rate (so far winning 25 from 25 matches played since 2015), 25 Townsville players participating in 5 QMC Possibles V Probables matches and 14 of those player selected in the QRL Queensland Murri Team.
The team will fly from Townsville to Brisbane on the 30th Sept and return on Friday 4th Oct.
